A Sense of Community

Did you know that out there in the world, some people work just to earn a living? The monotony of arriving at 9 a.m., punching in, and doing exactly what you are supposed to until 5 p.m. is how it has to be if they want that paycheck. That can make anyone feel as if life itself is boring and meaningless, that they are being taken advantage of by some rich AH, or that their soul is slowly rotting away due to an utter lack of motivation and passion.

The horror! The horror!

We will always have to work to earn that bread, and we might still work something like nine to five, but our workplace is no prison; it is a community. We are here because we want to be. Because we love what we do. We are here to grow together and achieve something greater. We are already making some awesome $H!T.

And while we run into each other often enough at The Cubic, some of us thought that having our own Community Hub would be another great way to stay connected, not just amongst ourselves, but also with potential new Dephioneers that find their way to these articles (‘sup, by the way, the careers tab is up there on the right).

At the Community Hub, we’ll build a library of combined and individual knowledge about our work. Sometimes we’ll cover the basics, and sometimes we’ll dive deep into the intricacies of a special project. We’ll keep a record of regular and special events that have taken and will take place. We’ll offer answers to your most burning questions, like “What is the meaning of life?”

Just kidding. But if you were looking for the lunch menu, yeah, that’ll be here. Showtime? Visma? That too.

But there will be downsides to the Hub as well. It is our plan to rob you of the pleasure of rummaging through countless emails that contain the word “game” or “event” for that message about the upcoming Game Night. We want to deprive you of those moments when you chuckle to yourself again as you find a forgotten treasure of a meme when searching Slack for “sign up”.

When you see a new face around The Cubic, New Employee stories will take from your first encounter that awkwardness due to lack of conversation starters. And, you’ll stay way too informed about what’s happening with the Friday Afternoon Projects. Soon enough, this will be the place you’ll find that and more.

This Hub will act as a virtual window through which anyone can see who we are and what we do as a community and as a company, which is why we’ll do our best to capture the spirit of craftsmanship, exploration, and wellbeing that are Dephion’s core values with each post and topic.

So, welcome to the Community Hub, Dephioners. Let’s keep making history together.
